4 Common Myths about Wine

Spring will be here before we know it. Warmer temperatures, longer days full of sunshine, and flowers and trees in full bloom are on the horizon. Some people celebrate the onset of spring with outdoor gatherings, gardening, or even travel. And those activities can be even more relaxing with a cocktail, whether you’re unwinding after work or cooling down from the heat. So today on the blog, we share four spring-inspired cocktails that you can enjoy now whether you’re lounging in your backyard or on a great escape.
Mexican Mule
Moscow mules have long since been a popular cocktail which includes four simple ingredients severed over ice in a chilled copper mug. This popular cocktail is known for being just the right sweetness yet not too overpowering, which makes it perfect for a warm sunny day. But we think this slightly different twist makes the Mexican Mule the perfect spring cocktail that you can enjoy whether it’s Cinco de Mayo or not! Swap vodka for tequila, add lime juice, simple syrup, and ginger beer and serve over ice in the iconic copper mug for a refreshing delight on a warm spring day.
Gin Basil Smash
Basil has a robust aroma reminiscent of spring and summer, and it also pairs well with gin. But we have a modified version of this hearty drink, and it only requires four ingredients – good-quality gin, lemon juice, simple syrup, and fresh basil leaves. Muddle about a dozen fresh basil leaves in a shaker with ice, add the remaining ingredients, shake, and strain it as you pour the beverage over ice.
Old Fashioned
Known as one of the most classic drinks, combining bourbon or rye whiskey with bitters, simple syrup, and a garnish of orange peel twist, this cocktail has been around for more than 200 years. Old Fashions never go out of style, and can be enjoyed any time of year, whether spring, summer, or during the winter holidays. But it wouldn’t be an Old Fashioned without a maraschino cherry or two. Our top pick is the Luxardo cherries brand, which tastes far superior to the traditional cheap red cherries filled with red dye. Luxardo maraschino cherries are pricy but are well worth the price once you taste their quality in your drink.
Georgia Mint Julep
The Mine Julep, made with muddled mint, bitters, simple syrup, and bourbon has been dubbed the official drink of the Kentucky Derby since the 1930s, although this famous cocktail has been around much longer, dating back several centuries. It’s the perfect cocktail for spring and you don’t have to wait for National Derby Day. But we like to add a little twist to this iconic favorite by adding a high-quality peach liqueur because nothing says spring more than the flavor of fresh peaches.
