DIY Guide for your Holiday Bar
December 4, 20234 Common Myths about Wine
February 5, 2024Hattiesburg, MS
How are you going to show love to your special someone this Valentine’s Day? You could go for the old standards: wine, chocolates and flowers. Or, you could shake things up this year by making and serving your loved one a special Valentine’s cocktail? Not sure where to start? Lincoln Road Package Store compiled this list of 4 cocktail recipes to help you celebrate the holiday this year.
The Bee’s Knees
A great choice to make for your “honey”, this cocktail dates back to the Prohibition era and is simplicity in a glass with only a few ingredients. Combine a half cup of honey with a quarter cup of water and five sprigs of thyme. Place the mixture in a small saucepan on medium heat for about two minutes. Let the syrup cool to room temperature and discard the thyme. For your convenience, you can prepare the honey syrup up to two weeks in advance and chill it in the refrigerator.
Now it’s time to make the drink. Take a shaker and pour in two ounces of gin, along with ¾ ounce of fresh lemon juice and the honey syrup. Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously, then strain.
Chocolate martini
Forget about the reservations and the fancy clothes. Make yourself a chocolate martini that’s as delicious as one you’d order at a restaurant. Start off by dipping the rim of your martini glass into some chocolate syrup, then drizzle more syrup inside the glass. Now, combine four ounces of Bailey’s, Smirnoff vodka and your chocolate liqueur of choice into a large cocktail shaker, fill with ice and shake vigorously.
Rumplesnuggler
Easy to make, this is the perfect after-dinner dessert you can drink! Preparation for this one is a snap. Just take a warmed mug and add 1 ½ ounces of Bailey’s, an ounce of peppermint schnapps and eight ounces of hot chocolate. Top with whipped cream and enjoy with your special someone.
The Pink Lady
This pretty-in-pink concoction dates back to the Prohibition era, when cocktail recipes used other ingredients to mask the flavor of the poor-quality bootleg spirits that were available at the time. You’ll need a large shaker, which should be filled with 1 ½ ounces of dry gin, a half ounce of applejack, ¾ ounce of lemon juice, a quarter ounce of grenadine and one egg white. Shake the mixture, then fill the shaker with ice and shake again until the drink is well chilled. Strain into a chilled glass and add a brandied cherry for garnish.
