Rosé isn’t a passing trend. While its rise to fame makes it seem like it is new to the market, it actually has been around since the ancient Roman times. Whether you want to jump aboard the rosé train for the first time or you’re looking for creative ways to enjoy this summer beverage, your Hattiesburg liquor store, Lincoln Road Package Store, has four great summer cocktail recipes where rosé steals the show.

  1. Rosé-Aperol Spritz

Cool down this summer with this fresh, bubbly cocktail that’s fruity and super easy to make. Whether you are enjoying a day at the beach, poolside, or at an outdoor barbeque, this beverage will keep you cool. Mix chilled passion fruit juice with Aperol, fresh lime juice, sugar (or simple syrup to ensure the sugar is dissolved), and add sparkling rosé. Serve in a wine glass full of ice to keep it nice and cool. Add a garnish of grapefruit wedges for a refreshing summer touch.

  1. Rosé, Bourbon, and Blue

This cocktail will have you longing for Independence Day, but certainly will keep you refreshed during those dog days of summer! The Mint Julep usually takes the cake for bourbon-infused cocktails during the summer, but we think this Rosé-inspired cocktail will steal the show! Fruity rosé mixed with unsweetened black tea, bourbon, fresh lemon juice, sugar, and fresh blueberries served in an Old Fashioned glass is a recipe to please a crowd. Garnish glasses with fresh lemon slices for that added summer touch.

  1. Strawberry-Rosé Spritzer

We are in the depths of strawberry season when summer peaks, which makes this cocktail perfect for those lazy summer days. Take a pint of hulled and sliced strawberries covered in rosé and chill in the fridge for three hours to infuse the wine. Strain the mixture, reserving some strawberries to use as a garnish later. Then, mix in a pitcher the strawberry-infused wine, soda water, Aperol, and lemon juice. Pour over ice, garnish the rim of a glass with lemon twists and strawberries.

  1. Frozen Rosé

You say rosé, we say frosé! For this recipe, use a hearty bold rosé such as Pinot Noir or Merlot rosé, pour into a deep pan and freeze for about six hours. It won’t freeze into a solid like ice since it has alcohol in it. Heat water over medium heat to melt sugar, add strawberries to make a strawberry-infused simple syrup. Scrape frozen rosé into a blender, add ice, strawberry syrup, and lemon juice, blend well, then add to the freezer to solidify (for about 25-30 minutes). This adult version of a slushy will make your inner child happy this summer! Also, it freezes well for up to a week ahead, making it perfect for summer get-togethers.
