Hattiesburg, MS

Summer Solstice may still be weeks away, but school is almost out and Memorial Day is just around the corner, which means summer has officially begun! When it is hot out, nothing spells summer quite like an ice-cold margarita. Your Hattiesburg package store ran across some delicious margarita recipes, courtesy of Liquor.com. One packs a sweet and spicy punch, while the other is enough for a crowd. We think they are both a great way to usher in the summer.

Pineapple Jalapeño Margarita

This thirst-quenching margarita packs a little heat with the jalapeno, but don’t worry, the pineapple juice adds just enough sweet taste to balance out the flavors. Here’s what you will need.

  • 2 T Sugar
  • 1 T Black Pepper
  • ¾ oz. Triple Sec
  • 1 1” Pineapple Chunk
  • 1 Jalapeno round, thinly sliced
  • 1 ½ oz. Cazadores Reposado tequila
  • ½ oz. Fresh Lime Juice
  • ½ oz. Pineapple Juice
  • Garnish: Lime wedge
  • Mix the sugar and black pepper. Prepare the glass by wetting the rim using the lime wedge, and then dip the rim into the sugar and pepper mixture. Coat the entire rim of the glass.
  • Add the triple sec, pineapple chunk and jalapeno in a mixing shaker, muddle.
  • Add tequila, lime juice, pineapple, and ice, and then shake.
  • Add ice to the glass.
  • Using a double strainer, pour mixture into prepared glass.
  • Garnish glass with lime wedge, pineapple chunk, and jalapeno round.

Margaritas by the Pitcher

Margaritas are always best when served with friends, which is why we love this margarita by the pitcher recipe! There is not anything fancy about this recipe, but the measurements are perfect for sharing. Here’s what you will need.

  • 10 oz. Fresh Lime Juice
  • 14 oz. Cointreau
  • 3 ½ oz. Agave Syrup (or simple syrup)
  • 22 oz. Tequila

To make, use a large enough pitcher, about 52-ounces.

  • Add lime juice to the pitcher first, and then the Cointreau. Taste the mixture as it should be a bit tart. You may want to add slightly more Cointreau. Be careful not to add too much.
  • Add agave syrup or simple syrup to taste, depending on how sweet you want the mix to taste.
  • Add the tequila, and taste before serving. The mixture may taste intense, but remember you will be pouring over ice, which will mellow out the flavor.
  • When ready to serve, mix about 3-ounces into a shaker filled with ice, and shake.
  • Wet rim of glass using a lime wedge, and dip into salt mixture, coating the entire rim.
  • Add ice to the drinking glass, and pour mixture in glass, serve.
  • Garnish with lime wedge.
